concrete and cognac: malibu residence

Following my previous post, I decided to stay in Malibu for a bit longer…where I discovered this beautiful residence, another design by Burdge & Associates Architects. Concrete plays a major role here with polished floors and raw ceilings throughout. The style is quite minimalistic but in a cosy, almost moody way. Leather sofas in the on-trend colour cognac work beautifully with the grey of the raw materials and add instant warmth to the look. I like how they are arranged in a way so interior and exterior mirror, very nice touch and creates a sense of illusion. The long and narrow gas fire place is a stunning feature, so are the leather benches with the buttoned headboards (there are two, one on either side of the doorway). The light fittings are a wonderful clash in style but that is what makes this house so livable and welcoming, despite its rather sparse furnishing. And who wouldn’t want to live here with that pool and that view?!
