A few months ago, as I passed the Poliform showroom at Design Centre Chelsea Harbour, I spotted a little beauty in the window: the MAD chair by Dutch design icon Marcel Wanders.
I am a huge fan of design coming from the Netherlands. The Dutch seem to have this natural sense for style which has always impressed me. Without wanting to detract from their great design ideas and products, I am probably slightly biased as I spent two wonderful years living in Haarlem enjoying the Dutch people and culture. In my view, they can’t do no wrong.
The MAD chair can be ordered in leather and fabric and solid wood legs in either ash-dyed oak, Spessart oak or natural oak. This chair would be so, so perfect for our master bedroom. I love the model with only one armrest – such a little cutie.
Marcel Wanders, product and interior designer, was born in the Netherlands in 1963. He drew international recognition in 1996 for his knotted chair by Droog Design. In 2001, Wanders cofounded the design label Moooi (meaning “beautiful” in Dutch). He has designed for numerous renowned international companies, such as Puma, Alessi, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, MAC Cosmetics, and B&B Italia. In 2014, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam was host of the largest exhibition of Wanders’ work to-date.
The MAD chair is just one of the beautiful designs by Marcel Wanders. I wouldn’t mind having every single one of the following items in our home:
sky garden pendant light
lucy five-arm candlestick
jardin d’eden bougie candle
